Wayne “Vern” T. Walsh, 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 6, 2025, in Naperville, IL, surrounded by his loving family. As an Army veteran who served during the Vietnam era, Vern exhibited quiet courage and bravery. His true legacy, however, was his warmth and humor. His infectious laughter, affectionate smile, and special sense of humor brought joy and laughter to all around him. Vern’s go-with-the-flow spirit and readiness to be a goofball to bring a smile reflected his generous and loving nature.

An avid fisherman, Vern spent serene mornings preparing his fishing gear and casting lines in hopes of catching the elusive muskie named “Walter.” He cherished the simple joy of fishing and the camaraderie it brought. Known as “Super Dad” to his daughter Nikki, Vern was a hands-on father who enjoyed home improvement projects and gardening with her. With his son Bryan, he bonded over car projects, imparting wisdom and sharing special moments.

Vern was a devoted family man, cultivating memories through shared activities and laughter. He is survived by his loving children Nikki Walsh and Bryan (Anne) Walsh, grandchild Anthony Obrochta, sisters Diana Siebert and Nancy (John) Feigl, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Sherry Walsh, parents Jack and Dorothea Walsh, and sister Marylou (Bill) Fraser.

A memorial visitation is scheduled for Sunday, July 13, 2025, from 1-5 p.m. at Anderson Memorial Homes in Plainfield, IL. Military honors and a memorial service will commence at 4:30 p.m. Vern’s legacy of love, humor, and generosity will be cherished by all who were fortunate to know him.
