Western Illinois men’s golf completes regular season at Hawkeye Invitational

The Western Illinois University men’s golf team finished its regular season at the Hawkeye Invitational in Riverside, Iowa, according to an April 21 announcement. The three-day tournament included three rounds and a total of 54 holes.

The event began with Mateo Rascon leading the Leathernecks on day one, shooting a 71 (-1). Easton Korell followed with a score of 74 (+2), while Owen Howe posted a 76 (+4). Julian Ortiz recorded a score of 79 (+7), and Bayden Hubacher completed the round with an 81 (+9).

On the second day, Owen Howe led the team by scoring a 73 (+1). Both Mateo Rascon and Julian Ortiz shot rounds of 74 (+2) each. Easton Korell and Bayden Hubacher each turned in scores of 77 (+5).

During the final round, Rascon again paced Western Illinois with a score of 74 (+2). Ortiz scored a 75 (+3), while Howe and Korell both finished with scores of 78 (+6). Hubacher concluded his tournament play with an 83 (+11).

Final individual results for Western Illinois were: Mateo Rascon +3 (T18), Owen Howe +11 (T46), Julian Ortiz +12 (T48), Easton Korell +13 (T54), and Bayden Hubacher +25 (75).

Western Illinois University Leathernecks Men’s Golf participates at the NCAA Division I level and hosts events such as the WIU Intercollegiate, according to the official website. The program maintains membership in the Ohio Valley Conference according to its official site, operating within Western Illinois University’s intercollegiate athletics framework as stated by university sources.
