The Western Illinois University women’s tennis team will compete against Lindenwood University in the opening round of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) Tournament, according to an April 16 announcement. The match is scheduled for 9:00 a.m. on April 17 at the Dwight Davis Tennis Center in St. Louis, Missouri.
This tournament appearance comes as Western Illinois concludes its regular season with a record of 6-12 overall and 3-2 in conference play under head coach Luke Ogren’s third season. The team recently ended its regular season with a loss to Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where singles players Mana Fawcett and Richardlyne Francois secured victories for the Leathernecks.
The matchup between Western Illinois and Lindenwood has been closely contested over recent years, with each team winning two of their last four meetings. In their most recent encounter, Lindenwood defeated Western Illinois by a score of 6-1.
Several Leatherneck athletes have received recognition this season. Mana Fawcett was named to the All-OVC first team and also earned All-OVC Doubles honors alongside Jessica Hess. Chloe Routier was selected for the All-OVC Second Team based on her performance during the year.
Western Illinois University Leathernecks Women’s Tennis competes at the NCAA Division I level, according to the official website.
