Western Springs announced on May 21 several updates for the upcoming Memorial Day weekend, including event schedules and changes to village services.

The annual Tower Trot is scheduled for Saturday, May 23. The Memorial Day Parade will take place on Monday, May 25, beginning at 10 a.m., followed by a brief commemoration service on the Tower Green. Village administrative offices will be closed on Monday, May 25 in observance of the holiday. Additionally, LRS collection services will be postponed by one day next week due to the holiday.

These reminders are important for residents planning their participation in community events or needing access to village services during the holiday period. Western Springs engages resident volunteers on boards and commissions to address community issues and provide recommendations, according to the official website.

Village offices are maintained at 740 Hillgrove Avenue. Western Springs operates under a council-manager government system that separates policy-making from administration and delivers public services through professional staff supporting advisory boards, according to the official website. In this structure, the village manager supervises personnel and executes policies set by elected officials who serve as volunteers.

As Western Springs prepares for its traditional Memorial Day activities, residents are encouraged to participate in community commemorations while being mindful of changes in municipal operations during this period.
