The City of Wheaton announced on April 15 that its upcoming meeting will take place both in person and virtually at the Gamon Room, Wheaton City Hall, at 7 p.m. on April 22.

This meeting format aims to increase accessibility for residents by allowing participation either at the venue or through a live stream. Community members can join via computer or smartphone by registering online, after which they will receive a confirmation email with access details. Participants joining remotely will be automatically muted but can use the “Raise Hand” feature to request an opportunity to speak. Those calling in by phone can press *9 to indicate their wish to comment and *6 when prompted to unmute themselves.

The agenda includes approval of March minutes, public comment, and a chair report. The city council recently appointed Nate Swartz and Jeff Gissing as new members, while Rita Nathanson and Bill Nieman were reappointed. Ongoing business topics include the city council’s approval of a simplified e-bike ordinance, preparations for the “Halfway There” History Ride celebrating America250, and plans for bike valet service during Run for the Animals on June 6.

No new business items are scheduled for this session. The next meeting is set for May 20.

Residents are encouraged to participate in these meetings as they provide an opportunity for public input on local matters.
