Will County is inviting residents to share their thoughts on what makes the county home and their hopes for its future, according to an announcement made on April 17. The initiative, called Guide Will, is collecting community input across several topics including housing and development, economy and employment, agriculture and rural character, open space and environment, transportation and infrastructure, as well as regional coordination.

The effort aims to involve residents in shaping long-term plans for the county. By gathering feedback from a broad cross-section of the community, officials hope to ensure that local priorities are reflected in upcoming decisions.

To facilitate participation, Will County will host a series of kid-friendly open houses featuring self-paced interactive stations. Residents can drop in at any time during these events with their families. Open houses are scheduled for April 28 from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at Monee Township Hall (26121 S Egyptian Trail, Monee) and Plainfield Township Hall (22525 W Lockport St, Plainfield). Additional sessions will take place on May 14 from 5:30 to 7:00 PM at Wilmington City Hall (1165 S. Water Street, Wilmington) and Nowell Park (199 Mills Road, Joliet).

Residents who cannot attend in person are encouraged to participate online at guidewill.co. The website offers tools such as a comment map for sharing ideas about specific locations within the county. There is also a survey available where participants can indicate their priorities for Will County’s future development. Those interested can sign up online for updates about the process.

By offering both in-person events and digital engagement opportunities, Will County officials aim to reach as many people as possible throughout this planning effort.
