William J. Kress, Sr., affectionately known as Bill or Willy, passed away on June 15, 2025, at the age of 86 at his home in Justice, Illinois. Born on June 12, 1939, in Chicago, Kress fought a courageous battle against cancer. A respected co-owner of DOH Memorials, Kress was known for his artistic talents and legacy of beautiful memorials. A St. Rita High School and Loyola University alum, his dedication to family, work, art, and sports endeared him to many. Survived by his wife Bernadine and combined families, Kress leaves behind a cherished legacy of children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and step-family members who brought him immense joy. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Damar-Kaminski Funeral Home & Crematorium in Justice. The funeral will occur on Friday, June 20, 2025, with a chapel service and time of remembrance held at the same location, followed by interment at St. Mary Cemetery in Evergreen Park, Illinois. William J. Kress, Sr.’s life was marked by love, artistry, and a passion for life that will continue to inspire those he touched.
