Wynn Macau showcased its blend of Chinese and Portuguese cultural influences at the “Experience Macao” roadshow in Madrid, according to an April 26 announcement. The event, curated by the Macao Government Tourism Office, took place from April 17 to 21 on Plaza Puente del Rey and featured exhibitions, culinary experiences, and interactive activities.

The roadshow aimed to promote Macau as a destination for European travelers by highlighting its unique cultural offerings. One of the main attractions was a large-scale Jingdezhen porcelain exhibition originally displayed at Wynn Macau and adapted for the Madrid audience. The exhibit demonstrated the historical significance of Chinese ceramics in Europe since “Kraak porcelain” left Macau on Portuguese ships in 1603.

Linda Chen, President of Wynn Macau, said: “Macau is an important showcase for intercultural exchange, and we want to use it to introduce Chinese culture to an international audience. We want visitors from all over the world to discover the beauty of traditional Chinese culture in Macao—and be inspired to visit both Macao and Jiangxi so that a real ‘one city, two destinations’ travel concept emerges.” Chen also said: “We want to use Macau’s unique Chinese-Western heritage—the historic architecture and intangible cultural traditions—to create stronger connections with visitors in Spain and across Europe. The goal is not just individual campaigns or promotions but fostering sustainable interest in Macau as a cultural tourism destination.”

The event included interactive zones such as lion dance drumming experiences, traditional wedding attire photo opportunities, dim sum tastings at a tea house, sugar painting demonstrations, racing simulations presented by the Macao Grand Prix Museum, and virtual reality installations featuring nine different travel routes through Macao.

Chen added: “We will continue leveraging Greater Bay Area multi-destination routes to deepen regional tourism ties. At the same time we will strengthen strategic cooperation between Hengqin and Macao for closer coordination of travel offers… As we enrich our cultural travel portfolio further, we remain committed to presenting Chinese culture internationally in ways that are appealing, accessible and relevant for global travelers.”
