Ziggy Marley, a nine-time Grammy Award winner and well-known reggae artist, will perform at the Illinois State Fair Grandstand on August 18, according to a May 19 announcement from the Illinois Department of Agriculture.

Marley’s appearance is expected to bring a unique musical experience to fairgoers by introducing reggae music to the Grandstand stage. The event highlights the fair’s effort to offer diverse entertainment options for attendees each year.

Jerry Costello II, Director of the Illinois Department of Agriculture, said, “Part of what makes the Illinois State Fair so special is the variety of entertainment we’re able to bring to fairgoers each year. From country and rock to folk and reggae, we want the Grandstand lineup to reflect the wide range of music our fairgoers love, and Ziggy Marley is an exciting addition to this year’s schedule.”

Rebecca Clark, Illinois State Fair Manager, said, “Reggae is not something we’ve featured often on the Grandstand stage, which makes this concert really unique. Ziggy Marley brings an incredible energy and a style of music that will create a completely different atmosphere at the Fair.”

Tickets for Marley’s performance will be available starting Saturday, May 23 at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster. Prices range from $40 for Tier 3 seats up to $105 for Blue Ribbon tickets. An additional $30 Pre-Show Party ticket can be purchased as an upgrade for all paid concerts.

The Illinois Department of Agriculture supports farmers and promotes public service across several programs that benefit consumers and agribusinesses throughout Illinois, according to its official website. The department also tests commercial weighing devices annually and maintains animal health programs recognized for achieving disease-free status in major livestock diseases.

The upcoming state fair runs from August 13 through August 23 in Springfield.
