Rep. Thomas M. Bennett (R-Gibson City) recently introduced a bill in the House that would alter the Public Pension Funds Article of the Illinois Pension Code to require the Public Pension Division of the Department of Insurance to make resources available to assist each municipality.
The legislation, House Bill 5866, would also ensure that resources include, but not be limited to, the support of the division's legal and professional staff and require that resources be made available to each municipalty by Jan. 1, 2020.
After a first reading in the House on April 20, HB5866 was referred to the Rules Committee.
Bennett represents District 106, which includes parts or all of Ford, Iroquois, Livingston, Vermilion and Woodford counties.
