Illinois House Speaker and Democratic Party Chief Michael Madigan gave $1.08 million to 25 state House candidates between July 15 and Aug. 15, state filings show.
The Madigan funding was disclosed in reports filed with the Illinois State Board of Elections (ISBE) by candidate campaign committees, including $133,949 reported by Citizens for Maggie Trevor, a Rolling Meadows candidate.
Madigan also contributed more than $70,000 to Richard Johnson in Elgin ($132,996), Karina Villa in West Chicago ($125,398), Lance Yednock in Ottawa ($105,207), Mica Freeman in Plainfield ($96,901), Mark Walker in Arlington Heights ($86,619), Kathleen V. Carrier in Carol Stream ($83,639), Joyce Mason in Gurnee ($78,938) and Lisa Dugan in Bradley ($71,020).
Madigan’s contributions came from campaign funds he controls, including his own committee, Friends of Michael J. Madigan, the Illinois Democratic Party and the Democratic County Chairman’s Association of Illinois.
All time, Madigan has given $5.5 million to these candidates, according to an analysis of ISBE reports.
