Illinois distilled spirits drinkers pay the equivalent of $8.55 per gallon in state excise taxes, according to a new analysis from the Tax Foundation.The taxes on stiff drinks in Illinois were the 15th highest among all states, according to the foundation's study.
The study was based on data from January 2020.
