Wayne, Hamilton and Schuyler counties saw the greatest percentage gains in fourth-quarter 2020 home sales in Illinois, compared to sales during the fourth quarter of 2019, according to data from Illinois Realtors.
The percentage gains in home sales during this period in Wayne County was 166.7%; Hamilton, 160%; and Schuyler, 150%. And the number of closed home sales during the fourth quarter were eight for Wayne County; Hamilton, 13; and Schuyler, five, the Illinois Realtors data shows.
Median home sale prices also varied widely among the Illinois counties, with Wayne County recording a median price of $176,000 in the fourth quarter; Hamilton, $61,700; and Schuyler, $145,000, the study found.
Statewide, the Q4 home sales gains over the same period in 2019 stood at 31.8%, with a total of 47,198 closed sales recorded, according to Illinois Realtors. The median sales price in Illinois during the fourth quarter was $230,000, the numbers show.
In the city of Chicago, the home sales gains were lower in the fourth quarter, with the number of sales increasing 20.3% over the Q4 2019 numbers, according to the analysis.
