As case numbers for COVID-19 decline, and vaccines are becoming more readily available, state officials are now easing social distancing guidelines to bring students back to school.
The state has provided new guidelines:
· Faculty members and all staff members must be vaccinated
· Students, teachers and staff members must keep away from each other by three feet
· Face coverings are still required
State Superintendent of Education Carmen I. Ayala said that six feet is still the ideal distance for social distancing but as long as staff members are vaccinated they can now minimize the distance to three feet.
According to the Department of Public Health, 95,369 Illinois residents have been vaccinated.
