July 7, 2021-  The Illinois Opportunity Project (IOP), leader in free-market advocacy, training, and volunteer development, today launched an Action Center that empowers grassroots activists and provides them with the tools they need to change and strengthen their communities. 

“Illinois government is too often set up for the powerful to take advantage of the powerless. Our Action Center is one more small step to putting Illinoisans back in control of their government,” said IOP President Mark Cavers. 

“Change in Illinois won’t come from the politicians in Springfield. Change will come from engaged and empowered voters who have the tools to hold politicians accountable. That’s why we are focused on investing in people to educate the most voters possible,” said Cavers.

IOP is part of the movement of thousands of Illinoisans who are committed to making our state the kind of place families migrate to instead of flee from. That means advancing a policy agenda that rewards work, reduces barriers to business creation, supports families, and focuses the government on providing core services. 

“Last election cycle when Illinoisans voted directly on policy, they demanded reform, rejecting Gov. Pritzker’s tax hike amendment in historic fashion. Unfortunately, instead of heeding this warning, Gov. Pritzker and the Party in power have worked to consolidate power. As a result, we’ve seen more broken promises from Pritzker and more indictments in Mike Madigan’s inner circle, not the hallmarks of a responsible and responsive government.” 

“This year will see power continue to shift away from Springfield backrooms and into working families’ living rooms. We are excited to provide our Action Center tool to the rising movement of advocates growing their influence at the local level and beyond.”
