Illinois State Board of Elections met July 1.

The meeting convened at 10:45 a.m. via Zoom videoconference, as well as the Springfield and Chicago office locations.
Vice Chair Linnabary opened the meeting by leading everyone in the pledge of allegiance.
Vice Chair Linnabary said that the swearing in of newly appointed and reappointed Board Members was the first order of business and introduced the Honorable Christopher G. Perrin, Associate Circuit Judge, 7th Judicial Circuit of Illinois to conduct the ceremony. Newly appointed Members Catherine S. McCrory and Rick S. Terven, Sr. recited the oath along with reappointed Members Ian K. Linnabary and Casandra B. Watson.
A roll call was taken and Vice Chair Linnabary and Members Donahue, McCrory and Terven were present in Springfield and Members Cadigan and Watson was present via Zoom. Members Haine and McGuffage were absent and Member Watson held Member McGuffage’s proxy.
The next order of business was the election of new board officers for the two year term beginning July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2023. Member Cadigan made a motion to nominate Vice Chair Linnabary to serve as Chair and Member Watson seconded the motion. Member Watson moved to close the nominations for Chair and Member Cadigan seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. Member Donahue made a motion to nominate Member Watson to serve as Vice Chair and Vice Chair Linnabary seconded the motion. Member Cadigan moved to close the nominations for Vice Chair and Member McCrory seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. It was noted that one motion was on the floor for the election of Vice Chair Linnabary to serve as Chair and Member Watson to serve as Vice Chair, and that motion passed by roll call vote of 7-0.
Chair Linnabary noted that there was no other business, but there were comments from the general public. Lance Gough, retired Executive Director of the Chicago Board of Election Commissioners, requested to speak during the comments from the general public portion of the meeting. Mr. Gough congratulated newly elected Chair Linnabary and Vice Chair Watson and thanked the board for their service.

With there being no further business before the board, Member Donahue moved to adjourn until Tuesday, August 17, 2021. Member McCrory seconded the motion, which passed unanimously. The meeting ended at 10:50 a.m.
