The Illinois Republican Party is running a poll on what voters think about Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s name being thrown into speculation for presidential consideration for 2024.
“JB Pritzker has quite the resume: Billionaire bully, candidate for appointment to Barack Obama’s old Senate seat and self-proclaimed 'Governor of Chicago' to name a few items,” The Illinois Republican Party said in an email. “But now, he’s looking to add something else to his resume: PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES. Should Pritzker run for president??? It’s clear that Pritzker is putting his feelers out to run for president, even neglecting his duties as governor to explore his run!”
GOP warns the public of the result once the Illinois governor takes a seat as U.S. president.
“Make no mistake, if Pritzker becomes president, he will bring his legacy of corruption, failure and incompetence to the rest of our country,” the GOP said.
Everyone is encouraged to provide their opinion through the GOP survey.
“Should JB Pritzker run for president? Let us know in our ONE-CLICK POLL!” the GOP said.
The Politico Florida Playbook featured Pritzker for a speech he gave to Florida Democrats during a three-day convention in Tampa. Republicans, according to Florida Playbook by Poltico, said that Illinois' exodus to states like Florida was due to his "failed" leadership.
“Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker, who bashed DeSantis while also calling for Democrats to be more forceful about their views, gave a 30-minute plus speech that was a hit among the party faithful. More than one Democrat in attendance called him a ‘future president,’” Florida Politico Playbook noted in its July 18 release.
Mark Glennon of Wirepoints hinted at a potential 2024 presidential run by Pritzker back in December 2021. If re-elected, President Joe Biden would be 82 years old, and vice president Kamala Harris' poll numbers were declining, Glennon suggested that a Pritzker run for president would really be feasible.
“Ticking though the list of positions important to Democrats shows that Pritzker can be their guy: Global warming?" Glennon wrote in Madison-St. Clair Record. "He was the darling of the Glasgow climate summit last month, touting the newly enacted plan for Illinois to move to 100% clean energy by 2050. Abortion? He vowed to make Illinois the 'most progressive state in the nation on abortion.' Minimum wage? He delivered on $15/hour. Undocumented immigrants? 'Let the word go out from today that the state of Illinois stands as a firewall against Donald Trump’s attacks on our immigrant communities,' Pritzker said after taking office, and a series of welcoming measures was among his first acts. Woke? Gallons of high caffeine coffee would be needed to match him.”
Indeed, media outlets in Illinois taunted Pritzker about running. Pritzker stated he was concentrating on his general election campaign against GOP gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey on Nov. 8, according to Illinois Public Media's Illinois Newsroom.
