Nearly a year after the Supreme Court voted to overturn Roe v. Wade, the decision continues to reverberate throughout the country. A June 22 report by St. Louis-based KSDK St. Louis explained how the decision is impacting Missouri and Illinois, bordering states with very different laws regarding abortion services.
“Tale of two states: A year after Roe v. Wade overturned in Missouri and Illinois” explains that Missouri was the first state to ban abortions following the decision, leading many to seek services in neighboring Illinois.
“‘A tale of two states’ is right: Illinois is actively working to stamp out innocent lives while Missouri is partnering with local pregnancy centers to support women and their unborn children,” Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey wrote in a June 23 Twitter post.
According to the report, Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed a bill earlier this year that allows advanced practice nurses and physician assistants with proper training to perform abortions.
