Steve Cortes, founder of the League of American Workers (LAW), said today that Illinois U.S. Sens. Tammy Duckworth (D) and Dick Durbin (D) “decided to prioritize illegal aliens” by voting against a measure that would have prohibited illegal aliens from being factored into the count for apportionment of congressional districts and the Electoral College map. 

“Senators Duckworth and Durbin clearly decided to prioritize illegal aliens and a radical open borders agenda, by voting to allow representation from illegals in the state of Illinois,” Cortes told Prairie State Wire. “For our street safety and our prosperity, these illegals must be deported, and not counted as citizens.”

The measure, introduced by U.S. Sen. Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.) was introduced as an amendment to H.R. 4366, Consolidated Appropriations Act, and was voted down on a vote of 45-51. 

Duckworth and Durbin joined every U.S. Senate Democrat, other than Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.), who did not vote, in voting to kill the measure, reported the Grand Canyon Times.

Hagerty said in a statement that, "Democrats’ unanimous opposition to this commonsense measure confirms that they’re using illegal aliens and sanctuary cities to increase their political power.”
