State Treasurer Frerichs to announce improvements to Bright Start College Savings program

Illinois State Treasurer Michael Frerichs is set to announce several enhancements to the Bright Start College Savings program during a news conference on Thursday, September 12, 2024. The event will take place at 10 a.m. in the third-floor Press Briefing Room at 555 W. Monroe St., Chicago, IL.

The improvements include lower fees, new investment options, and the introduction of a smartphone app designed to help parents manage their college savings accounts more efficiently. Chris Lynch, President of TIAA Tuition Financing, along with families who utilize the Bright Start program, will also be present.

Frerichs stated that these changes aim to provide better financial tools for families planning for future educational expenses.
