1099-G tax forms are now accessible for individuals who received unemployment insurance benefits in 2023, as announced by the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES). These forms are essential for completing both state and federal tax returns. The form, officially known as 'Form 1099-G, Certain Government Payments,' is required for those who received either state or federal unemployment insurance benefits. This includes recipients of regular UI benefits and those under expired federal pandemic relief programs such as Pandemic Unemployment Assistance (PUA), Federal Pandemic Unemployment Compensation (FPUC), Pandemic Emergency Unemployment Compensation (PEUC), Lost Wages Assistance (LWA), Mixed Earners Unemployment Compensation (MEUC), and state Extended Benefits (EB).
Claimants who chose to receive their 1099-G form electronically have been notified via email with instructions on accessing the form through their IDES account. Those who did not opt for electronic delivery will receive a paper copy by mail at the address recorded with the department.
All claimants can access their 1099-G forms online by logging into their IDES account or contacting Tele-Serve at (312) 338-4337. Forms from the past seven years are also available online. It is important to note that all IDES accounts require ILogin verification, with more information available at ides.illinois.gov/ilogin.
