The Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR) has launched a new online licensing system called the Comprehensive Online Regulatory Environment (CORE). This system is designed for IDFPR-licensed professionals, aiming to eliminate paper applications and provide applicants with more control over their application materials. The new process also seeks to prevent deficient applications from being submitted.
CORE introduces a streamlined online application process and simplifies the review of all license applications received by IDFPR. According to IDFPR Secretary Mario Treto, Jr., “Everyone wanting to earn a living in Illinois in the 21st century should have tools of the times available so they can be licensed and get to work as soon as possible.” He further emphasized that CORE, combined with steps to streamline current processes, demonstrates their commitment to improving services for Illinois. The transition to this new system is expected to be completed over the next two years.
