The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) is organizing a job fair in Springfield to fill various positions. The event is scheduled for Tuesday, November 19, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the John R. Block/Illinois Department of Agriculture Building on the Illinois State Fairgrounds.

“Public health is a team sport, and for our IDPH team to be successful, we are looking for individuals with a wide range of skills and talents to help improve the health of Illinois,” stated IDPH Director Dr. Sameer Vohra. He encouraged people from diverse career and educational backgrounds to attend the job fair and consult with career counselors present at the event.

Representatives from major programmatic areas within IDPH will be available to discuss their work and the qualifications required for prospective employees. Although resumes will not be accepted during the job fair, attendees can bring their resumes for review by career counselors from the Illinois Department of Central Management Services (CMS), who will also assist with the application process.

IDPH has several openings that do not necessarily require prior public health experience or college degrees, although some roles may demand specialized degrees or experience. Positions currently open include architect, environmental health specialist, clinical laboratory technologist trainee, health facilities surveillance nurse, data quality and testing specialist, office administrator, and office associate. New positions may become available up until the day of the job fair.

Advance registration is not necessary for attending the job fair. For further details, interested individuals can contact DPH.HRRecruiter@illinois.gov.
