John D. Vojtesak, 93, Former Illinois State Trooper and Korean War Veteran, Peacefully Passes Away in Joliet

John D. Vojtesak, aged 93, peacefully passed away on Monday, December 2, 2024, at Lightways Hospice in Joliet, Illinois. Born in Chicago to Alexander and Mary Vojtesak, John was a longtime resident of Crest Hill with his loving wife. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and later became an Illinois State Trooper for 30 years. John enjoyed softball, swimming, dancing, traveling, and was a dedicated Chicago Cubs fan. Known for his love of collecting coins and playing Bingo, John was also a snowbird in Arizona with his wife, Pat.

Survived by his beloved wife Patricia Vojtesak, children Michael Vojtesak, Linda Neill, Michael Bylina, Barb Phelan, sister Celia Bennett, grandchildren Heather Muntwyler, Robyn Beauchamp, Stephanie Phelan, Sam Miller, and great-grandchildren Aliyah, Julie, Olivia, Bennett, Cal, Charlotte, and Claire. Preceded in death by his parents, brother Ronald Vojtesak, and sister Maryann Mucha.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, from 3-8 p.m. at Anderson Memorial Home, 21131 W Renwick Rd, Plainfield, IL 60544. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Thursday, December 5, 2024, at 10 a.m. at St. Ambrose Parish in Crest Hill, with cremation rites and inurnment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood to follow at a later date.
