Illinois State Board of Education sets agenda for June business meeting

The Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) has released the agenda for its upcoming regular business meeting scheduled for June 12 in Springfield. The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. and will be audiocast online via a link on the ISBE website.

Public participation is encouraged, with an online form available from 7:30 a.m. until the start of the meeting for those wishing to speak. Participants can choose to speak in person or via phone by dialing 571-317-3112 with access code 919-127-637.

All meetings are accessible to persons with disabilities, and special accommodations can be arranged by contacting Ana Arredondo, ISBE's Language Access Coordinator, at aarredon@isbe.net or 312-814-5818.

The agenda includes roll call, public participation opportunities, closed sessions for specific personnel matters, and various approvals under the consent agenda. These include approval of minutes from May 15, updates to health and safety codes for schools, bullying data adoption, contracts over $1 million, and membership dues for the National Association of State Boards of Education.

There will also be discussions and approvals on contracts over $1 million related to virtual coaching/mentoring programs, resilience education initiatives in collaboration with IDPH (Illinois Department of Public Health), social-emotional learning hubs, after-school grant programs under FY 2025 state appropriations, and a no-cost extension agreement with the University of Illinois Springfield.

The meeting will conclude with announcements from senior staff and board members as well as information items including fiscal reports and staff demographics.
