Deacon Richard Herbert Ford, 85, known as "Deacon Rich," passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at his residence in the Carillon Community of Plainfield. Formerly a resident of Romeoville and Summit, IL, Deacon Rich was ordained by the Sacred Order of Deacons of the Diocese of Joliet in 2001 and faithfully served until his passing. He retired from building Maintenance for the Valley View School District after years of service, dedicating himself to serving God's people. Deacon Rich volunteered at St. Andrew's, serving on the School Board, as Treasurer for the Holy Name Society, and in various other capacities. He is survived by his wife Phyllis Ford, sons Richard, John, Anthony, and Patrick Ford, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents Albert and Roberta Ford, grandson Richard Ford Jr., and brother Robert Ford. Visitation on Monday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Anderson Memorial Home, Plainfield. Funeral on Tuesday, January 14, 2025, 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church in Romeoville for a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Services to conclude at the church, with cremation rites to follow, and inurnment at Resurrection Mausoleum in Romeoville at a later date.
