The Illinois Emergency Management Agency and Office of Homeland Security (IEMA-OHS) has announced a second round of grant funding for the Illinois Not-for-Profit Security Grant Program (NSGP-IL). The program offers $20 million to support eligible 501(c)(3) organizations deemed at high risk of threats or terrorism in implementing safety measures.

IEMA-OHS Interim Director Adnan Khayyat emphasized the importance of security, stating, "Everyone deserves to work, study, or worship in safe spaces." The program aims to provide resources to help prevent attacks and encourages eligible entities to apply.

The funding is designed to bolster safety by supporting target-hardening activities, such as the purchase or installation of security equipment and training. The eligible organizations can use the funds for security enhancements on buildings or improvements owned or leased by them. Training permitted under this program includes active shooter training and employee evacuation and security training.

Organizations with one site can apply for up to $150,000, while those with multiple sites can apply for up to $450,000 in total across three sites. Each site requires a separate application assessing its unique vulnerability and risk. Projects must be completed within a three-year performance period, with applications accepted until July 1, 2025, or until funds are exhausted.

Applications and further details are available on the IEMA-OHS website. Questions about application processes can be directed to the provided email address.
