Gerry began his 42-year career at ITW (Illinois Tool Works, Inc.) working part-time in the computer room while pursuing his Accounting degree at DePaul University. Through dedication and hard work, he reached an executive management position, retiring as President of the Electronic Components Group in 2012. His career took him worldwide, managing facilities across Europe and Asia. After retirement, his passion for finance and investments continued to thrive.
Known for his love of music, Gerry enjoyed various genres and shared his passion with his daughters. An enthusiast of new experiences, he enjoyed exploring new restaurants, attending theater productions, and spending quality time with loved ones.
A deeply religious man, Gerry's faith in God provided solace and strength through his health challenges. His family recalls his valiant spirit and fierce determination to be there for them.
In the midst of challenging times, Gerry's initiative in adding Winston, a Maltipoo, to the family lifted spirits and brought joy. Winston became a beloved companion, offering comfort and support to Gerry in his health battles.
Gerry's selflessness, love, and dedication to his family and friends will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His memory will be cherished and his legacy of love and kindness will endure.
The visitation will be held on Friday from 3-8 p.m. with a service at 7 p.m. at the Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home in Orland Park, IL. Interment will be private.
