John Richard Jones, 95, passed away after bravely battling cancer. Known as "Jonesie" or "Dick" to friends and family, he was remembered as a loving husband and cousin. A Chicago native, John served in the Army as a Pharmacy Tech in Germany and later worked in the pharmacy field until his retirement with K-Mart.

In 2000, at age 71, John found love and married Mary Swanson, with whom he shared 24 years in Tinley Park before moving to Peace Village in Palos Park. John, a passionate golfer, dedicated himself to improving his game through lessons and practice, especially enjoying annual trips to Dothan, Alabama for winter tournaments. He took pride in his Welsh heritage and maintained close ties with relatives in Canada and Wales.

Survived by his wife and step-daughters, John is also remembered by his step-grandchildren, step-great grandchildren, and cherished cousins in Wales, Canada, and the United States. The family expressed gratitude to Peace Village and Caregivers for their support.

Visitation will be held at Lawn Funeral Home in Tinley Park, IL on Thursday, April 17, 2025, followed by a memorial and military service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. John will be laid to rest in a private ceremony with immediate family.
