Hilaria Mata, Devoted Mother and Grandmother, Dies at 86

Hilaria Mata, fondly known as "Lala", passed away at the age of 86 in San Antonio, TX on Monday, May 12, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband Pedro Mata Sr., parents Jesus and Maria Leal, sister Tomasa Galleges, and brothers Benjamin, Juan, Ramiro, and Pepe Leal.

Survived by her eight children, 23 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, brother Jesus Leal, and sisters Guadalupe Velazquez and Oralia Lopez. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at O'Neil Funeral Home in Lockport, IL, starting at 9:00 a.m. with a Rosary Service at 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. at St. Dennis Church, Lockport, with interment at Lockport City Cemetery.
