Robert “Bob” E. Smolik, a retired CPD officer, passed away on May 17, 2025. He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Maureen (nee Russell), and his children Trish, Scott (Sharon), Brian (Eileen), and David (Jessica) Smolik. He was a proud grandfather to Kevin (Anita), Scott Patrick, Katie (Steve), James (fiancé Kim), Jack, Laura, and Lily, and a cherished great-grandfather of Emmi, Zack, Kinzie, Leland Smolik, and Vinny Fiorella. Bob was the dear brother of the late John (Marilyn) O’Dowd, the late Ron (late Shirley) Smolik, and the late Rich (Barbara) Smolik, and a fond uncle to numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, gathering at 10:30 a.m. at Curley Funeral Home, 6116 W. 111th Street, Chicago Ridge, then proceeding to St. Christina Church, 111th & Christiana Ave., Chicago for Mass at 11:30 a.m. Family and friends will convene at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood at 2:00 p.m. for interment. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Advocate Children’s Hospital (Hope Children’s Hospital) or St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
