Jimmy's thirst for knowledge was evident, often found immersed in history books, sharing his love of learning with nieces and nephews. His adventurous spirit led him to travel to every continent except Antarctica, showcasing a remarkable ability to connect with people from all walks of life.
A proud retiree of Stationary Engineers Union Local #399, Jimmy cherished his 58-year marriage to his late wife, Della A. McGing (nee Grimes), and the joyful memories they shared together. He was a dedicated father to Theresa McGing, James (Marilyn) McGing, and Patrick McGing, a proud grandfather to James McGing, and an adored great-grandfather to Emma.
Son of the late Peter and Mary McGing, Jimmy was predeceased by his 12 loving siblings from Chicago and Ireland. While he felt the sorrow of their loss deeply, he found solace and joy in his nieces, nephews, and their children, who reminded him of his cherished brothers and sisters.
Northwestern Medicine, especially Dr. Aparna Priyanath Gupta and Dr. Jane DeMatte D'Amico, played an essential role in Jimmy's health, guiding him as he lived a vibrant and healthy life for 99 remarkable years.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m., with the Funeral Service following on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Robert J. Sheehy & Sons Funeral Home in Orland Park, IL. Interment will be at Good Shepherd Cemetery.
