Karen A. Smith, 87, of Glenwood IL, and formerly of Homewood, IL, passed away on February 22, 2025. She was the loving wife of the late James A. Smith and mother of the late Lisa R. Smith and Jay Smith of Wildwood, MO. Karen was born in Anderson, IN, and earned a degree from Ball State University, where she was a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority. She worked at Richard D. Irwin, Inc. and was actively involved in volunteer work after moving to Homewood.

Karen had a passion for traveling, attending musical events, and serving others through volunteerism at the Homewood Historical Society, Homewood Women’s Club, and Izaak Walton Preserve in Homewood. A memorial service for both Karen and Lisa will be held in the near future.

To honor Karen A. Smith, memorial trees can be planted through the Sympathy Store, allowing her memory to live on through nature.
