Irene M. Jensen, 78, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at the Villas of Herscher. Born on November 26, 1946, in Kankakee, to Edward & Arlene (Berns) Devine, Irene was a dedicated educator and a beloved mother. She married Dr. Danny J. Jensen on August 11, 1973, in Kankakee.

Irene was a retired educator at Shapiro Developmental Center in Kankakee and had also taught Special Education at Bonfield and Clifton schools. She had a Bachelor's and Master's degree from Illinois State University. Irene found joy in bowling, cooking, crocheting, and gardening. She supported her sons' activities and enjoyed traveling with them to Hawaii and Arizona.

A parishioner of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Irene was also a member of the CCW. She is survived by her twin boys, David Jensen and Dean Jensen; sisters Agnes Rivard, Barbara Devine (Joe) Nitz, Angela Devine, Rose (Gary) Mitchell; brothers Gerald, Edward Jr., Gregory (Marla), and Maurice (Valerie) Devine; in-laws Dennis & Linda Jensen, Mary Ann Devine, and Gary Lanton; special friends Molly Jones and Rhonda Berns, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband, her parents, siblings Joseph and Robert Devine, Beverly Lanton, and brother-in-law Michael Rivard, visitation will take place on Monday, June 16, 2025, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Kankakee, with a funeral Mass following. Interment will be at Sts. Mary & Joseph Cemetery in Chebanse.

Memorial donations can be made to St. Patrick Catholic Church, Shapiro Developmental Center, or Foundation for Fighting Blindness in memory of Irene M. Jensen.
