The Illinois Deaf and Hard of Hearing Commission (IDHHC) has announced the opening of free registration for Nigel Howard's "Human Anatomy & Physiology" workshop. This two-day event, led by Howard, will focus on using American Sign Language (ASL) in educational and medical settings. The workshop aims to enhance participants' skills in visualization and 3D creation instead of relying solely on fingerspelling.

Participants will explore various topics including the functions and roles of organs such as the heart, systems like circulation, basic to advanced anatomy features presented in 3D ASL production, and practice with classifiers for different body parts.

The workshop is scheduled for Saturday, August 16, and Sunday, August 17, 2025. Sessions will run from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM each day at Illinois Central College's Peoria Campus. Attendees are required to participate both days. Those who complete the workshop will earn credits including 12 Illinois CE and RID PS 1.2 CEUs.

This initiative is a collaboration with Illinois Central College's Interpreter Preparation Program (IPP) and supported by a grant from the Illinois State Board of Education. Registration is limited to 100 participants and must be completed in advance. It is important to note that this workshop will be conducted in person only, with no hybrid or virtual attendance options available.
