Marie Dolores “Lola” Cuevas, aged 79, passed away surrounded by family on September 21, 2025, in Chicago. Cuevas, born on October 5, 1945, was raised in Chicago and graduated from Harrison High School before pursuing her dream of becoming a writer in Los Angeles. She spent time as a paralegal and volunteered at the La Brea Tar Pits. Cuevas returned to Chicago, where she volunteered at the Chicago Art Institute and was involved with the Field Museum. She is survived by her sisters, sister-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Visitation will be held on October 3, 2025, at Sheldon-Goglin-Kaminski Funeral Home in Chicago, with the funeral procession to Saint Ferdinand Church for a Mass on October 4, 2025, followed by interment at Maryhill Cemetery in Niles. Flowers or tree plantings in memory of Cuevas can be sent via the funeral store.
