Gov. Bruce Rauner and Republicans throughout the state have been rallying in support of Rauner's ongoing calls for reform and his re-election campaign, according to a press release from the Illinois Republican Party.
The GOP recently highlighted some of the reporting from state media, including NPR Illinois, WGN and the Chicago Sun-Times.
"We cannot give into [House Speaker Michael] Madigan and his Chicago agenda any longer," Illinois Republican Party Chairman Tim Schneider said, according to NPR. "Our goal is to win the House back, and make Leader [Jim] Durkin Speaker Durkin in 2018.”
WGN quoted Rauner during the Illinois State Fair.
“This is an exciting election," Rauner said, according to WGN. "We're going to win on to victory in 2018. Let's restore Democracy in the State of Illinois."
