House Speaker Michael Madigan (D-Chicago) continues collecting endorsements for J.B. Pritzker, his gubernatorial pick, according to the Illinois Republican Party.
The latest backer to emerge is the Illinois Democratic County Chairs Association (IDCCA), which the GOP described as a “front group” for Madigan.
“The IDCCA endorsement is nothing more than what we've already seen in this race: Mike Madigan pulling out all of the stops to coronate Pritzker with the Democratic nomination for governor,” the GOP said in a press release.
J.B. Pritzker
According to Ballotopedia.org, Pritzker is a venture capitalist and 1993 graduate of Northwestern University’s School of Law. He launched the Pritzker Group, a health-care venture capital firm with offices in Chicago and Los Angeles. According to Forbes magazine, Pritzker’s inheritance from his family’s connection to the Hyatt Hotel fortune left him with an estimated net worth of $3.4 billion.
“Today's decision is yet another example of the Madigan Machine working to clear the field and install a loyal Madigan ally like Pritzker in the governor's mansion, but the IDCCA endorsement is unsurprising - they have long been a front group for Mike Madigan,” the GOP release said.
