The Foundation for the Restoration of America has announced that Illinois is a leading provider of chemical abortions, despite the procedure's associated health risks. The report reveals that more than one in ten women in Illinois experience severe complications.

According to a new study from the Foundation for the Restoration of America, data on the risks of chemical abortion show that more than one in ten women experience serious health complications after using the mifepristone pill. This rate is 22 times higher than figures reported by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). In 2023, Illinois ranked among the top states contributing to chemical abortions, alongside California and New York.

The report analyzed insurance claims data from 2017 to 2023 and found that 11.2% of chemical abortions in 2023 resulted in serious adverse events, including hospitalization, infection, and hemorrhaging.

Despite the increasing prevalence of chemical abortions in Illinois, public health officials have downplayed these risks, according to the report. Some sources claim that complications are "extremely rare." The data indicates an upward trend in adverse event rates over recent years, with significant increases noted in 2022 and 2023. Illinois remains one of the states most affected by these safety concerns due to its high rate of chemical abortions.

The Foundation for the Restoration of America is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating Americans about maintaining foundational national principles as essential for future development, as said on their website.
