Capital budget includes $1.5B for statewide transportation construction

Road construction and wastewater loans top the list of projects funded by Gov. Bruce Rauner's 2019 capital budget.

The Illinois Department of Transportation would receive $1.5 billion for statewide transportation-related construction and $606 million for local road improvements, according to an analysis performed by the Commission on Government Forecasting and Accountability, which lists projects that would receive funding under the governor's proposed budget.

Rauner is seeking $7.8 billion for new projects.
