Illinois Family Institute, others plan Pro-life Rally and Lobby Day on Wednesday

Springfield

The Illinois Family Institute is partnering with several other pro-life organizations to hold the Pro-life Rally and Lobby Day Wednesday at the state capitol.

Illinois Family Institute, Illinois Right to Life, Pro-Life Action League, Illinois Federation Right to Life, Springfield Right to Life, Lake County Right to Life, Illinois Conservative Union and ICE-PAC, as well as dozens of church groups and pro-life individuals, will lobby in the capitol from noon until 1:30 p.m. in the lobby, then the rally will be held from 1:30 p.m. until 2:30 p.m. in the rotunda, and then they will organize again from 2:30 p.m. until 4 p.m. in the lobby.

The activists are working to fight against two House bills they claim are anti-life bills: House Bill 2495 and House Bill 2467.

House Bill 2495 was introduced by Rep Kelly M. Cassidy (D-Chicago). It creates the Reproductive Health Act and repeals the 1975 Illinois Abortion law and will also repeal the Partial Birth Abortion Ban and remove regulations from clinics that provide abortions. The bill is currently scheduled to go before the House Human Services Committee on Wednesday morning.

House Bill 2467 repeals the Parental Notice of Abortion Act of 1995. The bill makes corresponding changes in several county codes, the Medical Practice Act of 1987 and the Consent by Minors to Medical Procedures Act. It's sponsored by Rep. Emanuel Chris Welch (D-Westchester). It also is scheduled to go before the House Human Services Committee on Wednesday morning.

"This must be stopped! Planned Parenthood, Personal PAC and the ACLU will stop at nothing to achieve their body- and soul-destroying goals," an Illinois Family Institute press release states. "If we fail to do everything in our power to block the passage of these bills, we become complicit in the destruction of countless more innocent lives."

Illinois Family Institute said it wants pro-life individuals to come to the Rally and Lobby Day to remind state lawmakers that it's their job to protect the right to life for "even the smallest among us," the press release states.
