Illinois Department of Labor issued the following announcement on Oct. 16.

Workers are required to be provided with a safe workplace free of dangers - all workers. Unfortunately, temporary workers are more likely to be injured on the job.

Joliet Junior College, in partnership with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Illinois Department of Labor, is hosting a half-day seminar entitled "OSHA Temporary Worker Safety," from 8 a.m. to 12:45 p.m., Thursday October 24. The workshop will be held on the college's main campus, 1215 Houbolt Road in Joliet. There is a $69 registration fee, which includes breakfast.

• receive safety equipment.

• speak up about safety.

• report work-related injuries without being punished.

The workshop will focus on the responsibility and liability for temporary workers' safety, workers compensation and temporary workers, the Illinois Temporary Labor Services Act and the requirements for day-to-day supervision of temporary workers.
