Former Illinois Republican House candidate Peter Breen (R-Lombard) always knew things had to come to do this for people in the community, especially small business owners, to stand up and speak against Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker's (D) latest restriction of imposing a shut down order for dining inside at restaurants.

“The small business owners you now see rising up to stand up to the governor, and not just adhere to his edicts, is a matter of life and death,” Breen told the DuPage Policy Journal

“The governor moving to shut down indoor dining at restaurants across the state when there is no appreciable data that shows this helps reduce the spread of COVID is absolutely crippling for those establishments," Breen said.

"When folks are faced with losing their livelihood and ability to feed their families they feel they have to do something," said Breen.

Breen predicts the growing resistance to the governor’s only figures to swell from here. Recently, McHenry County State’s attorney Patrick Kenneally vowed not to enforce the ban on indoor dining the governor has now enacted across the region.

“The McHenry County Attorney has also taken a sworn oath to take care of the people of his community and he’s made the decision there’s no reason to be hurting legitimate business owners for trying to make an honest living,” Breen said.

“He knows the governor’s edicts threaten the rule of law because anytime you impose regulations on people that they don’t understand it undermines everything," Breen said.

Breen said Pritzker now threatening to strip businesses that violate his order of state licenses is only makes matters worse.

“His threats against law-abiding business owners are shameful and disgusting,” Breen said.

“The people of Illinois don’t derive their right to do business from J.B. Pritzker. It’s given to them by The Creator. The governor’s continued one-man rule without any check and balances is damaging to the rule of law, especially with the legislative being absent without leave the way it is," Breen said.
