GOP Activist Christopher Hicks called Congressman Adam Kinzinger's (R-IL) call to invoke the 25th Amendment to remove President Donald Trump from office a "desperate" attempt to please his friends on the other side of the aisle.
"I do not agree with CNN Adam and his anti-Trump tactics," Hicks told the Prairie State Wire. "CNN Adam is nothing more than an undocumented Democrat who hates America."
Kinzinger, an Iraq and Afghanistan war veteran who's still serving in the U.S. Air Force, became the first republican lawmaker to take a public stance in support of removing Trump from office. Kinzinger did so in a video message posted to his Twitter account where he blamed the president for the chaos that ensued since he encouraged his supporters to march on the Capitol. That show of support turned violent when the crowd forced their way into the building, broke windows, and caused other damage too as members of Congress worked to certify results of the electoral college vote.
"It's important to note that President Trump asked for his supporters and patriots to let their voices be heard but to do so peacefully," Hicks said.
Kinzinger called the president "unwell" and said he caused the events last week to unfold the way they did. He believed the president failed to protect Americans in Congress and "inflamed passions" that escalated, actions which he unenthusiastically condoned.
The Hill reported by the time Kinzinger made his stance public the morning after Trump's supporters stormed the Capitol, Democrats had already asked Vice President Mike Pence to invoke the 25th Amendment.
Hicks said now's the time for Republican and Conservatives to come together against the Democrats.
"The recent events that unfolded in D.C. illustrated how millions of Americans are feeling voiceless and left out," Hicks said.
