An Illinois 55th state House District Democrat has added his voice to those urging that President Donald Trump, with eight days left in office, somehow be removed from office.

"I wholeheartedly agree that President Trump should be removed from office immediately," state Rep. Marty Moylan (D-Des Plaines) told Prairie State Wire in a brief email statement.

Moylan's comments came after last weeks attack on the U.S. Capitol building by more militant members of Trump's base. Dozens reportedly have since been arrested and earlier this week ABC News reported on an FBI internal bulletin that warned plans for "armed protests" at all 50 state capitols in the nation are underway.

"His reckless behavior and rhetoric are not worthy of the office he holds and has resulted in a direct attack on our democracy," former Des Plaines Mayor Moylan continued in his statement. "The attack on our nation's Capitol is a disgrace and all those who facilitated such abhorrent actions should be held accountable."

Moylan has represented the 55th House District since he first was sworn into the seat in 2013. In November, Moylan won another term in office during November's General Election, taking more than 72 percent of the vote and soundly defeating his Libertarian challenge Glenn Olofson.

The Chicagoland state House District, includes parts of Arlington Heights, Des Plaines, Elk Grove Village, Mount Prospect, Park Ridge, Rolling Meadows, Schaumburg and portions of the O'Hare neighborhood.

Moylan's Chief of Staff Justin Cochran is running for Des Plaines city clerk following current City Clerk Jennifer Tsalapatanis' decision not to seek another term.

As the U.S. House of Representatives inches slowly toward impeaching the president, the Associated Press reported earlier today that Trump called the coming House action "a really terrible thing" that is causing anger.

"To continue on this path, I think it’s causing tremendous danger to our country, and it’s causing tremendous anger," Trump warned in the AP news report.

Trump also added, "I want no violence."
