An overwhelming number of millennials admit they would consider purchasing a home without having ever laid eyes on the property up close and personal.
Real estate data company Clever found that almost 80% of millennial respondents in a recent survey agreed they would consider making a purchase sight unseen, and another said as little as a virtual tour would be sufficient.
"There's low inventories and millennials if they find a home they think they like they want to make an offer, but they also want to be safe too, so virtual tours are a lot more common than they were," Clever spokesperson Kristen Herhold, Patch reported.
With inventories across the state still tight, those in the know say the COVID-19 pandemic may be a factor in some buyer's willingness to do things so differently.
"They are a little reluctant to do air travel because of COVID, they can't get there in time in their car because houses are going on the market and selling within hours, so that's fueling this 'sight unseen' marketplace," Illinois Realtors executive committee member Ed Nieves said, Patch reported.
