Illinois is trailing other states when it comes to members of its population who have received two COVID-19 vaccination shots.
According to March 4 data from The New York Times, only 7.4 percent of Illinoisans have received two doses and 17.4 percent of the state’s population has received one shot.
On Tuesday, the governor asked everyone to be understanding about the speed of the vaccination rollout, the Patch reported.
"We need to ask everybody for continued patience and I think we are all frustrated because we would like to get vaccinated today," Gov. J.B. Pritzker said.
Kayleen Carlson, president of the political action group Illinois Rising Action, sees Pritzker pointing fingers.
"Watching this vaccine rollout has kind of been a total mess," Carlson said. "Gov. Pritzker has continued his practice of shifting blame onto others for his administration's failures."
Illinois State Sen. Sue Rezin has been also seeking answers to the slow vaccine rollout.
Patch reported that the governor said there isn't a proper supply of vaccines at this time. The state is expecting more than 100,000 doses of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine to arrive this week.
