Rep. Tom Morrison (R-Palatine) leaves little doubt about where he stands in the growing debate over the parental notification bill.

“Should parents or another trusted adult family member at least be notified before their minor daughter receives a surgical or chemical abortion,” Morrison said in a March 15 Facebook post before linking to a video showing some speakers expressing why they oppose the legislation.

“Current state law requires it and does provide for judicial bypass when warranted,” Morrison said. “Planned Parenthood, other abortion providers, ACLU and a handful of state lawmakers want to repeal this law.”

Serving as the face of the 54th District since 2011, Morrison is widely known for his pro-life standing. The veteran lawmaker, who won nearly 52% of the vote in his November run against Democrat Maggie Trevor, sits on the House’s Elementary & Secondary Education, Human Services, Personnel & Pensions and Energy and Environment committees.
