House Republican Leader Jim Durkin (R-Burr Ridge) and his fellow party members announced their legislative priorities on Wednesday, which they believe would reshape Illinois into something better.
The “Reimagine Illinois” platform has four focal points that the House Republicans promise to tackle. Those points are:
- Ending corruption
- Responsible fiscal leadership
- Growing opportunities for families
- Ensuring public safety
Jim Durkin said that one of the reasons why his party came up with this platform is because they have been listening to their constituents and all they’ve heard is that Illinoisans are tired of the “hollow statements and lies” brought up by the Democratic Party.
Durkin says that Illinoisans are tired of experiencing inflated tax rates but getting nothing in return. They are also tired of living in squalid conditions where neighborhoods are often unsafe. They are also tired of corrupt politicians who take advantage of state pensions and other government-provided finances that should be used for the citizens.
It is because of these factors that the House Republicans of Illinois decided to introduce their “Reimagine Illinois” platform to give Illinoisans hope that the state will soon improve.
