Don Tracy isn’t keeping quiet when it comes to the first state election he’s overseeing since becoming Illinois Republican Party Chairman.
“I’m talking to you today about next Tuesday's elections,” Tracy said in a video posted to You Tube. “Yes, there is an election. You may not have heard it because it’s not generating a lot of buzz. These elections may not seem that important because you’re focused on all the awful things happening in Washington. But they’re really important because in many ways decisions made by local government may affect your daily lives more than what happens in Washington.”
Tracy stressed to Republican voters making the time to go cast a ballot in favor of a Republican candidate can ultimately make all the difference in their community.
“You want to support your local Republican candidates for these elections for a couple good reasons,” he said. “First off, all Republicans govern better than Democrats, that’s just a fact. These local elections are sort of the training grounds for future party leaders. It’s where they hone their political skills and actually learn how to govern.”
With turnout expected to be low on April 6, Tracy again stressed that it's critical Republican voters make the time to vote.
“Your vote really does count,” he said. “Please take the time to go next Tuesday or vote early. If you’re not sure who to vote for, do a little research and if the candidate is for limited government, lower taxes, supports local law enforcement and is for strong school choice, they’re probably a Republican."
Tracy was named state party chairman back in February, replacing Tim Schneider, who stepped down.
“I am truly honored and excited to have been chosen by the State Central Committee to serve as Chairman of the Illinois Republican Party,” Tracy said. “I want to thank each member for the opportunity to serve. I promise to lead with honesty, integrity, and the vigor we need to turn Illinois around.”
